Problem at the Awards Show…

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So, for those of you who weren’t aware, the Oscars were last night. (Big huge movie awards show thingy.)

And there was a bit of a huge catastrophic mix-up, concerning which movie won Best Picture.

Apparently, somehow or another the envelops got switched, and so the wrong movie was announced at first… and then rescinded while the representatives from the first movie were coming up. So, yeah. That’s new.

Anyway. I hope your week goes smoother than the last few minutes of that ceremony!

Reflections of shadows are COOL.

Hi!

So, it’s been raining where I am. A lot.

And the other day? I got another cool picture I really like. It again has to do with reflections in mud-puddles. But this time, it also has a shadow involved.

So, yeah. Enjoy!

Shadows and Reflections can be pretty!

Drones for Fun and Entertainment

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

Yesterday was a major entertainment event in the United States. One of the features of this apparently included a music show that incorporated drone technology for lovely effects.

The technology behind it is interesting, and apparently required more work than might have been anticipated.

Wired has an interesting article about it.

Enjoy.

Power outages are annoying

Hi.

There is a power-outage where I live. Tat might not be so bad in and of itself, since I do have a laptop, but no electricity also means no internet.

And yet, here you are…

I was getting to that!

So, yeah. Because I don’t have power, and therefore also don’t have access to internet at home, I’m needing to write this at a more public, less comfortable place than I like.

So, yeah. Power outages. They’re annoying.

I hope you have a good day.

I’d forgotten how QUIET it can be after a rainstorm!

Hi!

I’m writing this a bit before it’ll be posted. (What can I say? I’m on a roll!)

Anyway. Recently, it’s been raining hard. A lot. And it just stopped. (At least, it sounds like it may have. It’s comin’ down a lot less hard, at the very minimum. I’m writing with my windows closed and at night, so I can’t really see outside very well to confirm, either.)

And I’d forgotten how quiet it is without rain in the background!

In fact, my typing sounds really loud by comparison. This is slightly different than it has been recently.

On the bright side, it’s supposed to pick up again soon. So, that’ll be nice for me! (I like soothing ambient noise!)

Have a great Wednesday!

Fluffy New(ish) Craze!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So, I recently found out about a fun new “New Year’s Resolution”(ish) craze– it’s called a “Temperature Blanket.”

Basically, for every day of the year, you crochet (or knit) 1/365th of an afghan per day. (Basically, crochet somewhere between 1 and three rows. Possibly knit 1-3 rows instead, too, but you might need to do more for the knit version. I have a tendency to think of knit rows as being shorter than crochet.) Now the fun part? The color you use corresponds to the day’s temperature. Some people choose high, some low, some both. But the effects can be pretty.

And, since we have data on temperatures and stuff for previous days, you don’t actually have to start it on the first of the year (or whatever month you’re starting.) And if you miss a day, you can catch up. All you need is the temperature information, and you can make it!

Lionbrand Yarn, someplace called “the Crochet Crowd” and various other blogs have yarn recommendations and instructions.

Happy crafting!

Only ten people on a flight throws off my seating system

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So, I was just travelling last night. And had a remarkable experience. (As demonstrated by this post…)

There were only ten people on the plane.

And yes, it was a normal, full-sized plane.

Since I was flying Southwest, and they let you pick your own seats, this kinda led to some confusion on my part. You see, I have a system for choosing a seat. (No, I’m not sharing it this post!) But the system depends on there being at least close to a full flight.

With only ten… it was a bit confuzzling.

It worked, but it made me think.

So just to clarify, Webmaster… You have a “system” in place for a full plane, and it was more challenging to find a seat when there were only ten people?

Yep.

Anyway. Have a lovely Wednesday!

CHEERFUL 2017 Celebrity “News!”

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello!

So, I’m very happy to be continuing to start off the year with some fairly light-weight, absolute fluff about celebrities.

It turns out that Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, in the series Sherlock for those of you who didn’t remember) is related to the author of the original Sherlock Holmes. According to various sources, they’re 16th cousins, twice removed.

And they were related to royalty.

So, yep.

In related news as well, the new series of Sherlock is finally here! So, go watch. When you can. (I don’t have a link for you, and I haven’t seen it yet. But, it’s probably good. After all, SHERLOCK!)

Have a great day!

Sewing a gift closed was easier than taping it

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

So. My brother-in-law comes from a family where it’s apparently tradition to include prank gifts. I found this out last year, when he gave me a rubber chicken. (“It’s better to have a rubber chicken and not need one, than to need a rubber chicken and not have one!”)

Anyway. My gift for him (alas) is not up to those standards, as it’s almost something that people might want for themselves. (No, I”m not posting what it is. I know he won’t read this before he opens. But still. Principles. I have them. Ish.)

One of the features of the prank present is that it’s ridiculous to open. So, I’d originally planned in basically wrapping the thing in tape. I couldn’t find that much tape, though, so I ended up sewing it shut.

Yes, it was easier for me to find a needle and thread and to sew crepe paper shut, than to find more tape.

Priorities. I have them.

Anyway.

Again, Merry Christmas! I hope you have a great one.

It’s WINTER!

Hi!

As some of you may know, Winter Solstice was yesterday. And the Steam Winter Sale supposedly starts sometime today. So, HAPPY WINTER!!

I personally think it’s one of the *coolest* seasons.

In honor of the season, I’m going to share a song that Fluffy shared last year: “Blow, Blow thou winter wind.” It’s lovely, and seasonal.

So, yep! I hope you have a lovely Winter!
