Today’s Fluff Assignment: Watch Sherlock Series 4

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

I sincerely hope that you have seen seasons 1-3 of Sherlock. I also hope you have seen Episode 1 of Season 4.

I hope this in part because the last two episodes of series 4 (episodes 2-3) are presently available on the PBS website.

Although I was not particularly a fan of episode 1 of the series 4, it was required to set up the rest of the season. (That is, episodes 2 and 3.)

And Episodes 2 and 3 entirely delivered.

For context: I enjoyed season 1, really liked series 2, was moderately indifferent about series 3, and was not necessarily a fan of the New Year’s Special that came out last year. However, I personally think that episodes 4.2 and 4.3 were amazing. I am pleased to call myself a Sherlock fan.

I hope you enjoy.

Happy Monday.

Interesting Things that Happened Friday

Greetings, readers!

It turns out that last Friday, the 13th of January, was a rather interesting day.

In addition to Flight 666 to HEL(sinki, Finland) on a 13 year old plane arriving safely, Netflix released the first season of its adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

I have only watched the first episode. So far, however, it is rather droll. Part of its “charm” is that it does not let you forget that these are characters in a story. There is a narrator with deadpan commentary. The dialog is borderline stilted. Everything is just slightly overacted for the sake of melodrama. The narrator constantly reminds you can stop watching the show.

In fact, the intro song rather nicely demonstrates the tone.

When combined with Neil Patrick Haris’s acting and singing ability, it creates a rather droll tone, in a disturbed sort of way.

I am not sure if I recommend it yet, but I did find the first episode moderately enjoyable.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Cool music “mashup” Year II

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

As some of you may recall, exactly one year ago, I posted about a rather fantastic classical music “mashup”. That piece had a variety of famous composers’ music combined, on the piano, to make a rather lovely sounding piece.

The creator of that mashup has now released the second one.

Enjoy.

Ringing In the New Year (Part 2)

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

As mentioned yesterday, a series of carillon videos to ring out (and in) the New Year seemed appropriate.

I hope you enjoy this one featuring the Game of Thrones theme. (My apologies for not embedding it– the video seems to be resistant to such suggestions.)

Happy Friday.

Ringing In the New Year (Pt 1)

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

From what I understand, “Ringing In (or out) the New Year” is a tradition some follow.

In honor of that, TotalFluff will be running a series with a different Carillon (or Bell Tower) YouTube video between now and the beginning of the new year. The first is a playing of the Harry Potter theme.

I hope you enjoy and have a good Thursday.

Where do they get the electricity?

Greetings, readers!

I recently encountered an image that has been used by Microsoft as a background for log-in pages.

(I am including a screencapture someone took.)

Stunning display of electrical trees in their natural environment...

Stunning display of electrical trees in their natural environment…

It is quite lovely. However, I do have to ask… where is the electricity for the tree coming from?

And on that unnatural note, I leave you with a wish for a lovely Wednesday.

(Another) Stunning Version of Carol of the Bells

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

I know that there has already been a version of Carol of the Bells shared this December. I happen to rather love that carol, however, and so I am sharing yet another.

This is a more conventional one, with a full choir.

I hope you enjoy, and have a lovely Tuesday.

Re-sharing a Favorite Christmas Hymn: How Great Our Joy

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

As you may recall, last Christmas Eve I shared a favorite seasonal song: How Great Our Joy.

The version I shared was a Cambridge Singers version. It had a lovely tone to it.

However, I found a more traditional harmonization version. It again is not as beautiful tone-quality, but it is still worth listening to.

I hope you have a lovely Sunday.

The best part of the new Jungle Book was the Credits

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Greetings, readers!

Last Sunday, I ended up watching the new Jungle Book movie that came out this year. It was a very pretty movie. However, the most entertaining part was — I kid you not — the beginning of the credits. The movie was that dull.

Furthermore, they tried too hard to both use the old movie and the book, and thereby ended up ruining bot. It had minimal story value from my perspective; it seemed to take the worst part of the old movie, and ruined the best parts of the original story.

If you do end up watching any part of the movie, you I would recommend watching it on a speed through until you get to the credits scene. That way, you can still see the CGI beauty, and then you can get the entertainment value of the cutesy animals in the credits.

Needless to say, I do not particularly recommend this film.

Have a lovely Sunday.
