Chocolate sculptures

Hi!

Some people. Some people are crazy good at art and sculptures and stuff. Even with chocolate.

For example, there’s a fantastic sculpture of a boat… and a kraken.

Enjoy!

New Craft!: Tunisian/Afghan Crochet

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

I started learning a new style of craft project thingy!

It’s called Tunisian, or Afghan, crochet. It’s basically a cross between knitting and crocheting. And basically? It’s really fun.

I’m still learning, so I haven’t done anything with nice yarn, or a real project or anything. But yep!

How about you? How are you spending your Saturday?

Make your own wedding dress!

Hi!

So somebody wrote about somebody else who the first somebody claims DIY’d their own wedding dress.

Personally, I refer to that as “made your own”, rather than “DIY”. But, you know. Semantics.

Regardless, the writing somebody wrote an article (with pictures!) about the sewing somebody’s wedding-dress process. And the pictures are pretty. So, enjoy!

Fluffy New(ish) Craze!

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So, I recently found out about a fun new “New Year’s Resolution”(ish) craze– it’s called a “Temperature Blanket.”

Basically, for every day of the year, you crochet (or knit) 1/365th of an afghan per day. (Basically, crochet somewhere between 1 and three rows. Possibly knit 1-3 rows instead, too, but you might need to do more for the knit version. I have a tendency to think of knit rows as being shorter than crochet.) Now the fun part? The color you use corresponds to the day’s temperature. Some people choose high, some low, some both. But the effects can be pretty.

And, since we have data on temperatures and stuff for previous days, you don’t actually have to start it on the first of the year (or whatever month you’re starting.) And if you miss a day, you can catch up. All you need is the temperature information, and you can make it!

Lionbrand Yarn, someplace called “the Crochet Crowd” and various other blogs have yarn recommendations and instructions.

Happy crafting!

Sewing technique I REALLY want to try

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hi!

So yesterday, (I have no clue why,) I randomly remembered a picture of sewing stuff that a friend did. And I was curious, and wanted to look it up. The technique is called “Smocking”. And it is gorgeous.

I ended up finding a YouTube tutorial, and now I really want to try it. Problem, of course, is that I have no time. And should really be going to bed, or being productive… So, yea. I’ll leave a tutorial video with you, though.

Have fun!

Moldable Plastic Looks FANTASTIC

Note: If this is your first time to TotalFluff, please visit this brief explanation. Thanks!

Hello!

Ok, so I encountered Internet Information about a type of craft I REEEEAAAALLLY want to try… As of right now, anyway. (If I’m feeling this way tomorrow, I may actually order the material.)

The material is easily moldable plastic. Like, “you pour the pellets into warm-to-hot water, let it sit, then mold it, and wait for it to cool” easy. Some of the things you can do with it are incredible, too!

One company has a monthly contest, and one of the winners was a Ninja Figurine. And it looks professional quality!

I realize I’m not going to be there for a looong time… but one of the best parts? The material is reusable. Don’t like the way something came out? Throw it back in the hot water, and it becomes re-formable.

Given that a starter amount is about $10 from Amazon, it is incredibly tempting… Again, I’ll see. But who knows- you might be seeing some plastic sculptures from me soon.

Have a lovely day!

I kinda really want to weave a pillow now…

Hi!

Last night, I ended up getting sidetracked from whatever it was I was planning on doing, and watched a tutorial on how to weave a pillow-case.

I kinda really want to do something like that now. To the point where I’m looking around, trying to figure out what materials I have that I might be able to convert into a home-made loom-ish-type-thing…

Anyway.

Have a lovely Saturday!

Painting with Light!

Hiya, Fluffsters!

As you may recall, I kinda really love glow-in-the-dark things.

So, when a friend shared a video of someone who “paints with light”, I needed to share the video with you. The results are fantastic.

Happy Saturday! Go make something, or… something!
