Nicely done ragtime covers

Greetings, readers!

I recently encountered a rather remarkable set of music. A pianist took several “scary themes” from movies and converted them to ragtime. Although the latter two (“Jaws” and “Twilight Zone”) are not entirely believable as the originals, the first one is quite nice.

Enjoy.

NO STAR WARS DAY FROM STAR WARS?!

Readers, I am shocked.

I was away from being able to do much online the past few days, including May 4th, or Star Wars Day. I had totally expected there to be a new trailer — or something — for the new Han Solo movie.

AND THERE WASN’T.

I’m not sure what to make of this. Does Star Wars not know it has its own holiday-ish thing? Do they not have enough good material that’s able to be good outside of context? Do they not have enough good material, at all?

Hopefully, this mysteries will be answered.

Meanwhile, have a lovely day!

A YouTube channel about Pasta

Greetings, readers!

I thought it might interest you to know that there is an entire YouTube channel devoted to Italian Grandmothers making pasta.

Some of the pastas are quite lovely. All of them look like far more work than I would have expected. For example, there is a type of ravioli that incorporates rather elaborate folding.

Enjoy.

Happy Star Wars Day, 2018!!

Hi!

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY! May the 4th be with you!

Here are some fun Star Wars things you can do.

a) have a water-fight with a friend. (It’s summer-ish time. Right?) Debate who actually shot first. Film it, and edit it.

2) Watch all the movies, possibly in Machete Order.

iii) Make a nerf, and herd them. Not sure what a Nerf is? Me neither. Be creative! Have fun!

4th) Figure out more things that you can do. And don’t tell me the odds of this list increasing!

Have fun!

Further Thoughts on Spoiler Types

Greetings, readers!

From my post yesterday about types of spoilers, it occurs to me that there is also the “author intent” to consider.

For example, if the author or creator is working on a particular type of “feel” the author is going for, and the desired emotional response. So, if the author is deliberately trying to evoke an emotion, at least as much as provide an intriguing story, then information about the emotional responses would constitute a spoiler.

Types of Spoilers

Greetings, readers!

As you are aware, there is a great deal of “spoilers” discussion pertaining to Avengers 3. I have even contributed to this discussion.

It occurs to me, however, that there may be some differences in opinion over what constitutes a spoiler, as there are potentially different types of spoilers.

The first, most obvious type pertains to specific plot points. The fact that Harry Potter finds out he is a wizard, for instance, might be a plot-point that could be spoiled.

A second type might pertain to mood. This type of spoiler would especially occur if the medium is attempting to surprise with an emotional mood. A story that starts as a comedy but turns into a tragedy, for instance, would likely be designed to evoke tears. The emotional mood might be spoiled if the consumer is aware there is a mood twist.
