Hello, Fluffsters! Happy Tuesday!
So, tonight I had a bit of fun. The sky where I was was actually a bit clear, so I was able to stargaze for a bit. There’s an unfortunate bit of light pollution where I was, so I still couldn’t see that much, but I could see more than if the nearly constant cloud cover was here…
Anywho.
So one of the fun things about Stargazing for me is that I have fairly bad eyes. Part of my badness of eyeness comes from something called an “Astigmatism.” (I’m so glad Google exists- I wouldn’t have known how to spell it otherwise. I mean, I started with an e. “Estigmatism, anyone?”)
What that means is that I sometimes think things move when they aren’t actually moving.
When you’re dealing with stars, it’s sort of fun. “Ooh, is that bright shiny a star, a planet, a shooting star, or an airplane? Let’s look away for a half second and see… Is it still about in the same place? I guess it’s not a shooting star. It’s a bit red, so it’s either a planet or a plane… Or a UFO. (Although I guess technically since I haven’t exactly identified it yet, and from my perspective it’s flying, it’s a UFO…) Huh. Well, whatever it is, it’s pretty!”
Also, I’m not sure whether it’s the astigmatism, the cloud covering, or the stars themselves, but the bright shinies in the sky also seem to pulse a bit.
It’s really pretty. I don’t recommend getting astigmatism for the sole purpose of stargazing, but if you already have it, I’d try stargazing at some point.
I hope you enjoy your day!
